By 1865 it had grown to four editions: chamois (monthly), violet, blue, and green (bi-monthly), with an orange weekly edition added from 1869. That same year, the journal absorbed the \u003cem\u003ePetit courrier des dames\u003c\/em\u003e, and some issues appeared under the combined title \u003cem\u003eJournal des demoiselles et Petit courrier des dames\u003c\/em\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIn October and December 1870, exceptional issues were published under the title \u003cem\u003ePetit courrier des dames et Journal des demoiselles réunis\u003c\/em\u003e, some in miniature format. The violet edition did not appear from 1872 to 1904; the orange edition became the white edition from 1881. In 1902 the journal absorbed \u003cem\u003eLa Jeune fille de Bruxelles\u003c\/em\u003e, and in 1913 the Parisian journal \u003cem\u003eLa Lecture\u003c\/em\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAimed at girls aged 14 to 18 from affluent families, \u003cem\u003eLe Journal des Demoiselles\u003c\/em\u003e devoted itself primarily to literature, fashion, and theatre.
